What is Stable Memories?

Stable Memories is a FREE book club for those living with dementia and their care partner. Participants will enjoy a 30-minute reading group- where they may participate in reading aloud, or simply enjoy listening to the book, followed by a 30-minute guided interaction with one of our program horses. Whether grooming, watching a riding demonstration, or taking part in an equine activity, we will engage the senses, share memories and make new ones. 

Maximum group size is 6 participants with 6 care partners, 12 total per program. 

While this program is FREE, thanks to our generous sponsor, we do ask that you register online to reserve your spot. If you are unable to attend, please notify Inspired Acres at least 24 hours in advance, so that someone else may participate.

Silver Spurs is an adaptive riding program for seniors (65+) who want to get back into riding or start something new! Participants will engage in both mounted and unmounted equine activities, build their confidence around horses and have fun!

How Adaptive Riding Works:

A horse's soothing rhythm, strength, warmth, and three-dimensional movement pattern provide healthy exercise while improving circulation and muscle tone. The discipline associated with working with horses and the social interactions between peers benefit the mind and spirit while raising self-esteem and increasing self-sufficiency through accomplishment. The unconditional acceptance of the horses has been proven to reduce anxiety, encourage interaction, and offer a haven where riders can feel a sense of empowerment.

Schedule a field trip to our property:

• Meet new friends while visiting with Inspired Acres staff and volunteers
• Stimulate your senses while touring our beautiful horse stables and working gardens
• Build your strength and balance while feeding and grooming our therapy horses or working on a small project in our gardens
• Improve your coordination while walking our property
• Relax on our patio and/or our dock and enjoy the beautiful, tranquil, transformative environment

Limit to 10 people per group. Preregistration and appointment is required.
